Slamming the Posts

This was an easier week and a rather interesting one.
I think Slamming the Boards is a good site for the younger or the older generations who cannot get to the library because of job commitments or for the lack of transport. There are so many who just do not have the time to get to a library with numerous working between 2 jobs or more.

I feel all libraries could benefit from Answer Boards, where the Client can post their question(s) and know that they will get a librarian to answer them.
I liked the Yahoo!7 Answers the most for entertainment references.
I cannot help it but I still feel (even with all the technology available today)
that the most beneficial way is having customers visiting our libraries browsing for books and asking all sorts of information from a real life, in your face librarian.
What happens when the power goes out?

I think what a lot of the web 2.0 tools show us is alternatives. We still want people coming to the library to use our resources - and actually browsing the shelves looking for books. A report by OCLC (http://www.oclc.org/reports/2005perceptions.htm) show that our strongest brand is books.

Many of the web 2.0 tools work well in collaboration so we don't have to built the same kind of resource library by library (unless we want to ). I would like a collaborative group on youtube providing brief book talks/book reviews - then each library could link at need.
